General Information
Donnielle James L.Ac. MTOM, MA has over 25 years of experience providing patient care in
multidisciplinary and integrative clinical settings. She maintains a private practice in Los
Angeles emphasizing trauma informed care. She completed undergraduate and postgraduate
work in psychological research and counseling at the University of Oregon. After graduating
from Pepperdine University with an MA in Psychology in 2003 she completed post graduate
work in movement therapy and was introduced to Chinese Medicine. After graduating from
Emperor College, she has completed additional education emphasizing gynecology, mental
health and sports medicine She has over 10 years of experience in clinical education, serving
at Emperor’s College and Yo San University. She is involved with multiple community
organizations including Acupuncture Without Borders, Seva with Love and The Ovarian Cancer
Research Alliance and is actively involved with gynecological cancer research and advocacy
programs emphasizing integrative survivorship care.
Course Objective:
This course provides a survey on the diagnoses, treatments, and prevention for a few ageing-related
health conditions from the TCM and CAM perspectives. The biomedically defined diseases commonly
seen in the older adults are interpreted by Classic Traditional Chinese theories, and dietary therapies
and herbal medicine are presented for preventing and treating these health conditions.
At the end of the class, participants will be able to:
– Describe aging-related health conditions from the TCM perspective;
– Differentiate the patterns of aging-related diseases with TCM diagnoses;
– Suggest supplements and dietary therapies to the elderly populations for a healthy life;
– Safely and properly prescribe herbal formulas to improve some aging-related health conditions; and,
– Educate elderly patients to maintain health with TCM knowledge.
