Course description:
Shang Han (Cold Damage) and Wen Bing (Warm-febrile Diseases) are the two
major TCM approaches that determine herbal prescriptions in practitioners.
Shang Han Lun and Jin Gui Yao Lue represents the classical school that
emphasizes preserving Yang when treating externally contracted diseases, while
the collection of writings related to Wen Binseming theories provides various
formulas to treat febrile diseases and preserve Yin.
This course will provide a summarizing review of formulas following pattern
differentiation by the two major TCM approaches. The goal is to facilitate an in-
depth comprehension of classic formulas and advance participants’ skills in the
use of herbal medicine.
The course learning objectives are:
To review formulas from classic textbooks
To identify indications of classic formulas
To review disease patterns
To compare different formulas for the best treatment
